About Light Castle Winery

Light Castle Winery

Light Castle Winery is proud to be the first winery in Bulgaria with a 100% bio production. Our vineyards are cultivated only with bio products consisting of natural ingredients and we don’t treat our wines with any chemicals or substitutes.

Light Castle winery is situated in the region of Ivailovgrad, with own vineyards, situated in the village of Belopoliane and Svirachi, the south-east part of Rodopi mountains – region, with the best soil and climate conditions in Bulgaria for planting of high quality red grape varieties as Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Syrah and other. The absence of industrial plants in the region, and the specificity of the relief, characterizes the region as one of the ecologically cleanest regions in Bulgaria and Europe. Climate in the region has influence from the Aegean sea, which is 60 km from the vineyards.  The elevation is between 70 and 350 m.
The annual summed temperature is over 4000 ⁰C and is the highest in Bulgaria .
The soil, where the vines were planted can be characterized as carbonate black soil with sandy and stony texture and medium erosion.

Our goal is to create a dream,  forgotten by the modern world society. Our society that revolves around fast technological innovations, efficiency, non-stop calculations and complete specifications of every product, every business, every political and even health-care aspects of our lives!

Sadly, even wine – the gift of the Gods – recently has been specified, measured, ranked and as we have seen on many well-known wine fairs, wine has been categorized, graded, criticised or acclaimed and most regratably put into frames!
Light Castle Winery utilises a combination of both modern and classical technology in the wine making process. From the hand picked grapes of our own bio-certified vineyards to the aging of the best wine in high quality oak casks ( both barrique and barrel) , the production process is kept on a very  high professional level.
The hand selection for quality and freshness also serves to extract the leafs and other small particles of vegetation that were picked during the harvest process.
